What Do They Do: Percy French is a restaurant based in the grounds of the Slieve Donard Hotel & Spa in Newcastle, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

The Problem

The Percy French restaurant is part of the Hastings Hotel Group. They approached CDS for a solution to their kitchen which was struggling to keep up with current demand. The restaurant had potential to make much better use of the space available to them, if they could only extend the restaurant.  However to do this, the restaurant would have to close for 6 weeks.

The Solution

In order to provide Percy French with a larger kitchen with minimal disruption, CDS proposed building the restaurant extension externally – shaving two weeks off the total time the restaurant would have to close.

The new restaurant was designed and built with minimal disruption, providing Percy French with additional space to cope with growing demand.  The new open design also allows customers to see the Percy French chefs at work, bringing an element of theatre into the restaurant.
